Visão Geral
The production of high-quality food in sufficient quantities, transportation logistics and ease of access are critical factors in combating hunger, especially in highly populated areas of the world. As a country with a strong agricultural vocation, Brazil must produce food for an additional 1.2 billion people over the next 30 years to provide food security (greater quantity and quality) for 40% of the increase in the global population predicted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) (approximately 3 billion people). This large increase in agricultural production in Brazil and other food-producing countries, however, must occur in a sustainable manner, with low environmental impacts.
Principais Objetivos
The "Food Security" project, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, aims to establish strategies for Brazil to meet the demand of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to produce food for an additional 1 billion people over the next 30 years, by intensifying its efforts in anthropized areas (Agriculture and Livestock) with irrigated agriculture, without the need for deforestation, in line with society's values.
