Domestication of Macauba
Project that aims to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), green diesel (HVO), thermal energy and other high-value co-products. This open innovation partnership aims to contribute to the domestication of macauba, establishing commercial crops and optimizing the extraction of high-quality oils from the fruits (peel, pulp, endocarp and almond).
Visão Geral
The 5-year project is being carried out in partnership with Acelen and the University of California (UCDavis), and other research institutions, such as Unicamp, the Federal University of Viçosa and the Agronomic Institute of Campinas.
Principais Objetivos
The 'Domestication of Macaúba' Project aims at the sustainable production of biofuel oil for aviation in soils under degraded pasture in the Caatinga, Atlantic Forest and Cerrado Biomes.
